(no subject) [Apr. 24th, 2008|01:41 pm]
HELLO!!! I'm pretty tired after 3 crazy weeks of traveling. Our management company bought the whole band these things called Flight Passes..they allow us to fly anywhere in North America pretty much whenever we want. We started in Los Angeles where we played The Viper Room on the famous Sunset Strip, it was awesome to play such a famous spot...i think Johnny Depp used to own the club... The label we were down there to play for put us up in a famous Hollywood hotel called the Roosevelt, its where the Rat Pack and Marilyn Monroe used to hang out in the 50's. Needless to say we had an amazing time in California, the weather was incredible compared to what we had been dealing with back in Vancouver, and we can't wait to go back.

Next stop was New York City, with a quick stop in between in Montreal. It was the first time for most of us in the big apple, so we spent a lot of time doing tourist stuff, checking out all the NYC hot spots. We played at the Mercury Lounge, another classic venue. On the last night in New York we all had a little too much fun and we almost missed our flight to Grand Prairie, AB. In a drunken stuper, we left one of our guitars on the side of the road outside our hotel in New York, so someone is enjoying a nice vintage Gibson RD as we speak! We made the plane at 7 in the morning, most of us hadn't slept a wink, and flew way up north to Grand Prairie in Northern Alberta. To our surprise the weather had taken a turn for the worse up there and we were dealing with -15 C and 2 feet of snow. We had gotten up that day to 20 degrees in one of the biggest city's in the world, and now we were trudging through the snow with our gear in a little town in northern Alberta.

We played a couple shows up in Northern Canada over the week-end, Grand Prairie and Fort Saint John. After we played in Fort Saint John (which was an amazing show btw) on Sunday night we decided to drive 250 KM back to Grand Prairie where we were staying.  We were driving along the desolate highway at 2:30 in the morning when the Van just stopped working...actually we had forgot to fill it up with fuel, and we were flat out....We rolled to a stop on the side of the highway. It was then that we figured out that no one's cell phones were working...finally chris' cell phone was able to get some signal and we were able to call AAA for a tow. While we waited for a Tow and for a Taxi to come get us, the Van cooled down to a brisk -20 C. We were freezing our balls off!!! Finally after an hour and a half the tow and taxi showed up. We were towed into a small town called Dawson Creek where we had to wait 4 hours for the gas station to open...I slept all the way back to Grand Prairie and woke up with a bit of cold. We flew home the next day and now we are home waiting for news of our next journey on the flight pass.

We've been working everyday, writing new songs, booking more shows, and we should have lot's more to tell you about real soon...keep in touch!

see ya soon
much love

happy new years!! [Dec. 30th, 2007|08:29 pm]
Hey everyone,

Hope you are having an awesome holidays. We are happy to just be relaxing here in Vancouver...but we've got a big year ahead. 2008's gonna be a awesome year for Crowned King. We just shot a new video for our song Don't Let Go which you may have heard on our myspace site...we worked with an amazing director for this video, Frank Borin. Frank has shot some amazing videos in the past for artists like The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Eminem, so we were in really good hands. It was an all night video shoot, and it was shot outdoors in this amazing abandonned shipyard in our hometown, North Vancouver. We were expecting rain for sure, as anyone knows who's from Vancouver, it rains everyday from october to may...anyways..we had a totally clear night and everything went really well. I can't wait to see it finished, and I can't wait to show it to all of you.

Tommorow night while we're bringin' in the new year, you guys will be on our cheers list. We have the best fans in the world...and we'll never forget it! Look forward to seeing you all in the new year!

Much Love
Shaun

Booking a tour [Oct. 22nd, 2007|03:09 pm]
hey everyone,

I know its been awhile since we've written on this blog...i'm actually in the process of streamlining all of our online stuff. Being in a band in this day and age is crazy. I swear we have 15 different profile pages on 15 different sites...trying to keep them all up to date is crazy i tell ya! Anyways, just wanted to let you all know that we are currently booking a Western Canada tour, and an Asian tour. The Western Canadian tour is taking us pretty much everywhere Edmonton, Calgary and west. There will be 15-20 dates on this tour, and I will post all the confirmed dates on the myspace page as they are confirmed. As for ASIA, it looks like we are doing Jakarta, Singapore, Bejing and a couple more that aren't yet confirmed.I would also like to invite you all to be apart of our new Mailing List. Please sign up below, and click the Street Team box if you wanna help us promote our shows.

see ya soon!

Japan Update [Apr. 29th, 2006|01:50 am]
Hey its Ry, I Am so stoked to be here in Japan it's something else that’s for sure! We are really rocking the shows with new material and making lots of new fans everyday. The cities are so crazy, like 100-foot display screens and neon and lights everywhere it’s really overwhelming. We walk around each city for hours between our sound checks and the shows; we see so much bizarre shit. They are nuts about Pachinko here, which is like a casino type game with spinning wheels and ball bearings, but you don’t actually win money in the end. I found that out the hard way when I turned 50 coins into 500 and when I went to cash in they pointed to a sign that said for amusement purposes only, I was like that’s not very amusing to me man! Anyway I have become great friends with all the other guys in all the bands we are on tour with and they are so funny I lost my voice from hysterically laughing at the insane shit they do and say. I am having a killer time and I definitely recommend coming here sometime. Well I don’t really know what else to say cause I’m kind of delirious from the bar last night still. They hooked us all up VIP and we got endless bar drinks at Lexington Queen. It’s an awesome underground bar in Rappongi. So that’s all for now… See ya'll at the show…

our favorite hotel [Nov. 5th, 2005|07:51 pm]
well, we're back here at the Senator Hotel in beautiful downtown Saskatoon...we always seem to end up at this same hotel in this town. And we always seem to wander over to the Pita Pit around the corner for dinner. We're halfway through our tour with Bad Religion and Anti Flag, so far its been a total blast. Last night in Edmonton was a highlight...although i'm not the hugest fan of the venue "Red's", Edmonton crowds never let us down. Its so awesome to be touring back in Canada..after touring in Australia and Indonesia this summer i almost forgot how awesome the canadian crowds are. We started this tour on Vancouver Island which was a total treat, especially Port Alberni which totally rocked. So far we've done nothing but drive and play...jonny spent his birthday driving through the night to Calgary. I think he went 36 hours without sleep, i thought he was gonna collapse on stage at the Calgary show. We're really looking forward to the next few shows, and don't cha worry...that new album is comin' along. See you soon!

From Surabaya [Aug. 20th, 2005|06:21 pm]
hey everyone...we've been having a crazy ride here in Indonesia, sorry i haven't had the time to stop and write a message. We got here 2 weeks ago now, and were greeted at the airport by insane amounts of television cameras and Indonesian fans...We had no idea what to expect from this country...since we got here we've been treated like kings. Last week we played the Soundrenaline Festival in the town of Semaurang. The total attendance of the festival was 40,000 people, and let me tell you...Indonesian kids know how to fuckin' rock. We were flown into the festival by chopper...felt like a little Vietnam takin' a chopper through the jungle. The weather here is hot all day and all night...it takes a lot out of you, constantly sweating when you're outside. This is definetly the hardest tour we've ever had to do...everyday we wake up and do several press conferences, meet and greets, television and radio interviews then we play then we do it all again. Its an amazing country, and the people here are some of the nicest most generous people i have met in my entire life. unfortunately like most 3rd world country's there's always that risk of getting major food poisoning, and we all got it last monday...it was just fucking brutal, Ryan got it the worst..poor poor guy. We've been eating Ramones style ever since...nothing but Cheese Pizza. I'm workin' my way back onto the indonesian food now that i'm feeling better...the food here is so amazing, you just have to be carefull where you eat. Anyways...i've gotta go soundcheck now, we'll be back in Canada in 10 days...so start getting the beers cold.

luv ya

At the Airport in Singapore [Aug. 10th, 2005|04:34 pm]
Hey everybody....i've got 5 short minutes to write you a quicky to let you know what we've been up to...we're currently at the Singapore airport, on our way to Indonesia. Sadly, we left beautiful Australia this morning. I wanna thank all the amazing people that we've met over the past few weeks, this tour has been fuckin' awesome! I think the last time we wrote was in Melbourne, and since then we've visited the beautiful city's of Sydney and Brisbane. In Sydney myself and ryan decided to go skinny dipping in the winter ocean at 3 in the morning, which we later found out was peak feeding time for the sharks...i spent a week after that with larengitus (however you spell that), which was pretty lame. I think we've all had our turn at being remotely sick...and now we're off to a country where if we drink the water, we'll be puking and shitting ourselves for days....should be interesting. I just wanna say that Bagster, the band that took us around australia, is the greatest band in the southern hemisphere...make sure you check them out if you get a chance....they are completely the raddest dudes we've ever met!

Australia thanks for having us we'll be back soon
Indonesia we're looking forward to meeting you
and North America, we're looking forward to getting back and partying with y'all soon!
Best,
Shaun

100 degree Warped Tour [Jun. 23rd, 2005|08:42 pm]
So now its my turn (Biggs) to fire up the live journal from Omaha, Nebraska....

The tsunami bomb has completely washed over us... The tsunamis are all the most friendly and fun people i think we've ever met. If you guys ever get a chance to see them...DO IT!!!!! They're fucking rad!!

So warped was absolutely the hottest temperature i've ever hung out in. it was hovering around 100 degrees all day for all 3 shows. Ryan is now a sun burn victim and i think we all still have sun stroke. Sweet!!!!

Now we're playing a couple of rad shows on the way home with a cool band called Ludo. you should check them out too on Myspace.

In other news, Last night we pulled into a gas station in the middle of nowhere and adam decided to get completely naked. He then proceded to ask for us to douse him with ice cold water. He wouldn't get back on the bus until we did this.... We got it all on film so you can expect Naked Adam on the next DVD whenever that happens....HAHAHA.

In the words of MCR....So Long and Good Night!!!!

ryan's update [Jun. 15th, 2005|01:12 am]
Hey y'all,

Ryan here to fill ya in on the biz. Well we finally had a day off here in Minnesota so we went to "The Mall Of America" for the day. It’s pretty big but I think west Edmonton still wins in a fist fight (well water fight anyway). We got a motel room tonight and for the first time in about 10 days we got showers,WEEEEEEEEE! Yes we are clean and we also did all of our laundry oh joy!

The tour has been great, last night we played at the Triple Rock in Minneapolis, that’s the club owned by the guys in 'Dillinger four'(fat wreck chords/hopeless). After the show we hung out all night with them and the other bands drinking unlimited draft beer for Spider from The Loved Ones birthday!!!! Good times! A couple days before that we played at the Pyramid in Winnipeg which was alright considering it was 18 +, thanks to all the people who mad it out to our meet and greet. The day before Winnipeg was Regina which is always a great city to play, after the show we went and hung out with our pals from Saskatoon at there hotel, fun times were had. The next day we crossed the border and rocked Fargo North Dakota, we played at the Veterans Foreign Wars hall in the basement and it was cool. As a band we are getting tighter and better every show, so all the kids are really responding with positive merch sales, lol! Its pretty fun for us to get to play down here and to see all these cities and places we have never been. It’s not really that different than Canada, on the surface.

Well it a super rad tour and we still have a few shows left with 'The Loved Ones', 'Tsunami Bomb', and 'Kane Hodder', they should be sweet. We will be in Chicago in a couple days so I definitely gotta check out some blues bars. Okay i'm gonna go smoke a cigarette now so bye bye and request our music everywhere and anywhere possible!!!!

-Ryan

Hangin with The Rocky Fortune [Jun. 9th, 2005|09:59 pm]
You're pal Shaun here..relaxing in Calgary as we speak. Our show tonight in Edmonton got cancelled on us, which is a total bummer....we had such a wicked time last time we played Edmonton at Red's...anyone at that show care leave a comment as to how rad that night was?!? anyways...We've been getting to know our tour mates "The Loved Ones" for a few days now...they are an awesome band, we're so stoked to get to spend another week or so touring with them. Last night we played Calgary...i gotta tell ya, Calgary is such an awesome town to rock in. It is infamous for being an incredible rock n' roll city...even the guys in the Loved One's were excited to play there as they had heard so much about it. We met up with our friends from a band called "The Rocky Fortune"..make sure you check them out...They've got this wicked house full of awesome old records..we were just listening Zeppelin 2, and ELO on Vinyl. They've also got a bassment full of awesome musical gear, so i'd imagine we'll be doing some rockin' out later on in the evening..I'm very excited to get back on the bus tommorow and head to Regina for our next spectacle...But for now I'll be enjoying my bottle of Jack Daniels, The calgary sunset, and do some much needed hanging out with old friends.
